We are currently working hard on a new website to better transmit current information and summarize a history of these past few years. For now though, King J. is still imprisoned at FCI Petersburg in Virginia and would appreciate letters!

We have also updated our Donations page, which reflects the desires of Jorge and his family to shift fundraising from him towards his daughters.

Russell Kilfoil, King Peaceful was recently sentenced yet remains in county lockup. Currently he is being held at Orange County Jail until he is either transferred to another county jail or onto a federal facility.

Please drop a letter in the mailbox!

Russell “King Peaceful” Kilfoil was sentenced to 15 years today in the Middle District of North Carolina.  The Judge shaved off some years from the US Attorney’s maximum recommendation.  Kilfoil received less than the recommended time due to his own efforts and life experiences.  Though the Feds were able to place Kilfoil in a leadership role of the NC ALKQN, for the purpose of gaining a stiffer conviction, and to further demonize Kilfoil and the NC ALKQN, on the actions of others, we hope that Kilfoil feels that even though 15 years is a long time the feds did not take his life.

A slightly more colorful report of today’s sentencing can be read on the Yes Weekly blog, http://yesweeklyblog.blogspot.com/

Someone will do what the need to do in order to improve their own lives, but only if that improvement does not come at the expense of another.  Peaceful is a descent person with strong character. There is a difference in wanting to stand alone and just walking away. The law and participants tend to confuse the two.

Kilfoil’s new address will be posted as soon as he is transferred to a federal facility.

On October 9, 2013, Wednesday, Russell “King Peaceful” Kilfoil will be sentenced at the federal courthouse in downtown Winston-Salem at 9:30am.  This is the last sentencing date of the 3 convicted.

King Jay has finally been cycled out of the various county and regional jails and into a federal correctional institution.

Jay is now imprisoned in FCI Petersburg Medium.  FCI Petersburg is a medium security institution and is part of the Federal Correctional Complex Petersburg.  FCC Petersburg which contains minimum, low, and medium security institutions, when writing to Jay be sure to include Medium in the address and his registration number.

It is with a heavy heart that we are preparing for the upcoming sentencing date next week, *Wednesday, August 14th, at 9am at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Winston Salem*, for our friends and comrades King J (Jorge Cornell), King Peaceful (Russell (Jonathan Hernandez) Kilfoil), and Ernesto Wilson. The courts have continually pushed back this date, and even though it’s going to be really hard, all of the guys are ready to move on with the next phase of their fight in the appeals process and get out of county jail where they have no outside access, extremely limited resources and constantly changing visitation privileges.

The support community around the Kings and King J in particular is asking for your help as we prepare for next Wednesday. Here are some concrete ways J, his family, and friends are asking you to contribute:

1. Jorge’s attorney has asked that anyone who would like to submit a letter on Jorge’s behalf do so ASAP so that he can submit them this week to the court. If you have known J in any capacity and have a story or experience you could share PLEASE try to write a letter and send it ASAP to:

Michael Patrick
312 W. Franklin St. PO Box 16848
Chapel Hill, NC 27516
or by Fax: 919-869-1348

Please DO NOT mention your ideas about Jorge’s guilt or innocence or your personal critique of the “criminal justice system.”

2. PACK THE COURTROOM! *US District Court, 251 N. Main Street Winston-Salem, NC 27101*, lots of downtown parking available. Organize a carpool from your town or neighborhood to downtown Winston Salem on the morning of Wednesday, August 14th. Bring a valid photo ID, and do not bring your cell phone or any food into the building.

3. If you have been close to J for a while, please consider being willing to say a few sentences (testifying) in front of the Judge on Wednesday. This can feel scary but others will be there who will be doing it and can offer support during the day.

4. Please forward this far and wide!

with appreciation for your time and energy & with undying rage at the society that imprisons us. -ALKQN Support

August 13, 14, and 15 will be sentencing dates for all who were found guilty through a trial of their (non)peers and individuals who plead out or cooperated and turned state’s evidence.

According to the Greensboro News and Record, Jorge Cornell, King Jay and his brother Russell Kilfoil, King Peaceful will be sentenced together on Aug.  14th.

Ernesto Wilson and two others, possibly two who plead, are being sentenced on Aug. 13th.

Five other individuals, who turned state’s evidence, will be sentenced on August 15th.

We just received news from King J. (Jorge Cornell) that their (J., Peaceful, and Ernesto’s) motion for re-trial was denied by Judge Beaty, who released a twelve page response to the defendants’ request. J. was told by his lawyer that it is entirely possible that the sentencing hearing may not even get scheduled until August. We got to see J. today at Orange County Jail where they have all been for about a month. J was in good spirits and is ready to move forward with his first appeal as soon as possible. He did, however, describe how frustrating it is that they have all been stuck in county jails, getting moved around, while the government dragged its feet in response to the motion filed days after their verdict in late November.

In other updates, Jason Yates (King Squirl) has decided to take a non-cooperating plea for the first count of conspiracy to commit racketeering. Squirl maintained his support for the other Kings who went to trial and expressed that he would have stuck it out through trial if he had not been severed from this case. His decision to plea was a personal one as it related best to his situation, and though we don’t have all the details of the plea in our hands yet, we have every reason to believe he has been honest with us in his decision and has remained un-cooperative with the feds, who have harassed him non-stop since he was severed from the original trial due to incompetent legal counsel (his state-appointed attorney never visited him in the year from the time the indictment was released in the fall of 2011 to the pre-trial hearings in the fall of 2012).

King Paul, Dice, and Spanky are all finished previous time in other facilities and have expressed their gratitude to the continual support from the outside. King Dice is finishing his state time from previous legal issues at Marion Correctional Institute, which is well known as a miserable and corrupt institutition. A prisoner at Marion recently wrote into Chapel Hill Prison Books on the intricacies of the racist antagonisms that guards perpetuate amongst prisoners as well as the general intolerable conditions, check that piece out here: http://prisonbooks.info/2013/04/26/conditions-update-at-marion-ci/

Members of the ALKQN Support crew are still in California with Queen Smiley’s family. The support from folks all over the country has been incredible and has sincerely helped the family through this process of grieving and re-organizing their lives without their mother. Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday and we know that if Smiley were with us today she would be joining us at the Mother’s Day demonstration outside of the women’s prisons in Raleigh. For more details check out the call-out here: http://prisonbooks.info/2013/04/26/sunday-may-12th-raleigh-mothers-day-noise-demo/

Remember to write to the Kings!
